Standing with survivors. Building a more compassionate community.

Corinn Gamez
Founder · Start Biting
Corinn Gamez is the founder of Start Biting, a social services professional, writer, and advocate passionate about social work, systemic justice, and creating meaningful change for individuals and communities. With an educational background in theology and anthropology, Corinn is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work (MSW), with a focus on substance use and chemical dependency.
Corinn brings six years of experience in social services, working alongside individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and across a range of communities. Her professional experience includes supporting at-risk youth, children with autism, survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, refugees and immigrants, and individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges. Her work has centered on advocacy, person-centered support, and harm reduction education, with a commitment to meeting people where they are and recognizing the dignity and humanity of every individual.
At the heart of Corinn’s approach to social work is a fundamental belief: connection heals. She believes meaningful change begins when people are met with compassion, understood without judgment, and supported through genuine human connection. Her approach recognizes that healing does not happen in isolation and that building relationships, fostering belonging, and creating access to supportive communities are essential to individual and collective well-being.
Corinn is particularly passionate about advocating for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. She recognizes that these forms of violence affect people of all genders and believes effective advocacy requires challenging systemic barriers that prevent survivors from accessing safety, support, and justice. She is committed to amplifying survivors’ voices, promoting accountability, and advancing a more inclusive and compassionate approach to supporting those impacted by violence.
Outside her professional work, Corinn volunteers with several organizations throughout Seattle and uses writing as a tool for advocacy, education, and social change.
Through her blog, Rinny Writes, her contributions to The Unsealed, and podcast appearances discussing her writing, she explores the intersections of lived experience, social justice, trauma, and systemic accountability.
One of her essays has been published and translated into multiple languages, extending the reach of her advocacy to an international audience.
Corinn is committed to using her professional experience, education, and writing to challenge harmful systems, amplify marginalized voices, and build a world where people are met with dignity, connection, and the support they deserve.
A Seattleite at heart, Corinn finds inspiration in the people, stories, and communities that make the city home. In her personal time, she can often be found writing, volunteering, or spending time with her dogs: Eladio, Cornelia, Elsa, and Zoey.
A lifelong believer in the power of storytelling and human connection, Corinn brings that same curiosity, compassion, and commitment to justice to every part of her life.
