About Start Biting

Start Biting stands with people affected by domestic and sexual violence through awareness, advocacy, and connections to support. We believe every person deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and supported in making choices about their own future.

The belief behind our work

Start Biting was founded by Corinn Gamez, a social services professional, writer, and advocate whose work has included supporting survivors, young people, families, refugees and immigrants, and people experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges. Her guiding belief—connection heals—shapes our emphasis on compassion, belonging, and meaningful human relationships.

Corinn is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work. Her biography describes her experience and education in more detail. Meet Corinn and the Start Biting team.

Our mission and vision

Our mission is to stand with victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence through awareness, advocacy, and connections to support, while inspiring communities to take action against abuse. Our vision is a world where everyone can live free from violence and every survivor has the safety, support, and freedom to shape their own future.
