Safety & Support Information

Updated October 22, 2026.

Your choices matter

You are welcome to read our resources without telling us your story. What happened to you is not your fault. You decide what steps are right for you.

Urgent help and independent support

This website, email inbox, and social-media accounts are not crisis or emergency services. In immediate danger in the United States, call 911 if it is safe to do so. Outside the United States, use local emergency and support services.

For domestic violence support in the United States, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233, or text START to 88788. For sexual violence support, contact RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800-656-4673. These services are operated independently of Start Biting. Visit their websites for current options and details. Messaging and data charges may apply.

What this website provides

Our pages share general awareness and resource information. They do not provide individualized legal, medical, mental-health, or safety-planning advice. A link does not establish a partnership or guarantee another organization’s eligibility, availability, confidentiality practices, or services. Contact the provider directly to understand its options.

Quick exit has limits

Quick exit opens Google in the same tab. It does not erase browsing history, remove downloads, clear call or message records, or prevent device or network monitoring. Browser Back may return to this website. Private browsing does not make a monitored device safe.

If you suspect monitoring, consider a device you trust when it is safe to do so. Changing settings or deleting records may be noticed. Read The Hotline’s internet safety guidance for more information.

Protect your personal information

Please do not send abuse histories, precise locations, identification documents, case files, or another person’s private information through ordinary email or public comments. Ordinary email should not be treated as an anonymous, legally privileged, or confidential survivor-service channel.

Take breaks when you need them

Some content discusses domestic and sexual violence. You can pause, leave, or explore support at your own pace. Healing has no single path or timetable.

For nonurgent inquiries: info@startbiting.org. This inbox is not a crisis service. Please do not send sensitive personal information or details of abuse by email.

Quick exit does not erase browsing history or prevent device monitoring. Read our safety information.
