The services on this website

This site is hosted by WordPress.com and uses Jetpack Stats. The public homepage loads WordPress platform resources, a site-statistics script, performance monitoring, and Gravatar-related resources. WordPress account or sign-in features may also load platform resources. These services may receive technical information when your browser requests them. Our current Google Analytics measurement ID field is blank.

Platform features and their purposes

Security, account access, and preferences. WordPress.com can use cookies to support sign-in, remember account or site preferences, and maintain platform features. For example, Automattic identifies wordpress_logged_in*, wordpress_test_cookie, and wp-settings-* as platform cookie families. Their use and duration depend on the feature, whether you are signed in, and provider settings; they are not all required for every visitor to read our pages.

Statistics and performance. Jetpack Stats measures visits, page use, and related technical performance. Some measurement uses scripts or pixels rather than cookies, so blocking cookies does not necessarily stop every measurement request. See Jetpack’s Stats privacy information for its data practices.

Profiles and optional interactions. WordPress.com and Gravatar features may process profile or interaction information when used. Cookies associated with optional platform functions can differ from those encountered during ordinary reading. See the provider information below for feature-specific examples and durations.

Provider information and cookie durations

Automattic maintains a cookie policy and Jetpack maintains a feature-specific cookie reference. These explain provider cookie names, purposes, and, where available, durations. They describe a wider range of services than this site uses; a cookie listed there is not confirmation that it is set for every Start Biting visitor. Browser site-data tools show the cookies actually stored for your visit. Cookie behavior can change with platform updates, sign-in state, and the features you choose to use.

Your choices

You can use your browser’s privacy or site-data settings to inspect, block, or delete cookies for startbiting.org and related provider domains. Many browsers also let you block third-party cookies or clear site data when you close the browser. Blocking cookies may affect sign-in and optional features. It does not erase provider logs or prevent every script, pixel, or network request.

Start Biting does not currently provide a custom cookie-preference center. If WordPress.com presents a privacy or cookie choice for your visit, use that control to review the available options.
