About these terms

These terms describe use of Start Biting’s informational website at startbiting.org and its associated WordPress.com address. “Start Biting,” “we,” and “our” refer to the initiative and team described on our About page. Effective date: October 22, 2026. Questions: info@startbiting.org. These terms concern the website; they do not represent confirmation of incorporation, tax exemption, or a direct-service relationship.

Our purpose

Start Biting stands with victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence through awareness, advocacy, and connections to support. Website information is intended to help visitors learn and explore resources. Reading this site does not enroll you in a program or establish an attorney-client, therapist-client, medical-provider, or other professional relationship.

Urgent support

This website is not a crisis hotline or an emergency reporting channel. Do not rely on website messages or email for urgent help. In immediate danger in the United States, call 911 if it is safe to do so. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available at 800-799-7233 and TheHotline.org. RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline is available at 800-656-4673 and RAINN.org. These services are independent of Start Biting. Outside the United States, use local emergency and support services.

Information and personal decisions

Website content provides general education, not individualized legal, medical, mental-health, or safety-planning advice. Circumstances and available services vary. A qualified local professional or advocate can help you consider your circumstances. We respect survivors’ choices; you do not have to report abuse, leave a relationship, or disclose your experience to read our resources.

Respectful and lawful use

Do not use this site to threaten, stalk, harass, impersonate, exploit, or identify survivors or other people without authorization. Do not attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, disrupt the site, or misuse personal information. These expectations do not restrict lawful criticism, accessibility testing performed with authorization, or rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

Sharing resources and intellectual property

You may share links to our public pages. Reuse of text, images, logos, or other material beyond rights allowed by law requires permission from the relevant rights holder unless the material carries a license permitting that use. Third-party materials retain their own terms. You must not imply that Start Biting endorses you or your activities without permission.

Other websites and services

Links to other organizations are provided for convenience and do not establish a partnership or endorsement. Those organizations determine their own availability, eligibility, fees, privacy practices, and terms. Review their information before contacting them. We do not control their services or guarantee an outcome.

Privacy and digital safety

Read our Privacy Policy, Cookie Notice, and Safety & Support Information before sending information. Do not submit identifying details about another survivor without appropriate permission. Quick exit opens another website; it does not erase history or prevent device or network monitoring. No website can promise complete online anonymity or confidentiality.

Availability and responsibility

We aim to keep resources useful, but information and links can become outdated and the site may be unavailable. To the extent applicable law permits, we do not warrant that general website information is complete or appropriate for every situation. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits remedies where the law does not allow it, or excuses duties that apply to an actual service relationship.

Changes and questions

We may revise these terms as the website changes and will update their effective date. Changes apply prospectively, subject to applicable law and any additional notice or consent requirements. These terms do not select a governing jurisdiction, require arbitration, or waive non-waivable legal rights.
